- Damage on the metal – the metal flashing stripes that surround the roof openings and strengthen the roof valleys and metal gutter pipes are especially sensitive to hail, so check them for dents and cracks and remedy any issue that is more than just a cosmetic problem;
- Cracked and chipped components – if you have a tile roofing, replace any cracked or chipped components;
- Missing shingle granules – hail can remove the topmost protective layer that covers the central mat of the shingles. Replace all the shingles that have an exposed core.
