How to Tell If Your Windows Have Leaks and What to Do About It?
Windows Roofing Siding City Contractors

Even the newest and most well-designed windows can have leaks. If you thought that installing brand new windows might save you from the need to repair them for at least a few years, then you might want to double check the manufacturer’s data and make sure the contractor you hired actually did a good job.

In many cases, issues like this can’t be avoided for long. You might be away from home and then come back to find your kitchen was partially flooded with water after a storm. Fortunately, there are ways to check whether your windows are leaking.

One of them is to actually use a water hose from the outside under low pressure. Just make sure you are able to block the water on the inside, so it doesn’t cause any damage. Another method is to use high pressure air around the frame, particularly in the area where you might already suspect that there’s a leak.

Fixing leaks can be quite easy as long as you know where they are. For windows with a wooden frame, you can buy some high-grade polyurethane caulk and seal the areas where the leak is located. For vinyl and metal windows, you’ll have to check the drain holes on the outside to make sure they aren’t clogged by anything. These holes allow water to drain away from the window, and if they are clogged, the structure of the window will force the water to fill the bottom track and leak on the inside of your wall.  It’s good to note that many of the roofing Ellicot City professionals also do quality installation of windows and siding for your home.
