How Can You Accurately Estimate How Much Your New Roof Will Cost?

Roofing contact spread out on a wood table. Someone is signing the contract for a new roof installation.

Roofing costs might seem straightforward at first. However, each roof is different, and each roofing contractor will charge differently even for similar roofing jobs and projects. Depending on the type of material you want, however, it’s still pretty easy to calculate your costs at a fair level of accuracy, as long as you have some basic information about your house.

Start by measuring the roof and finding out how many sq. ft. of material you’ll need. Multiply that by the price of the material per square foot, and you’ll get the rough price of your new roof’s material cost.

Now, roofers also add labor costs, and you have to take into account any complications that might occur as well as any important upgrades or additions you might want – like metal flashing or a skylight. Any and all such changes will add to the cost.

Finally, when it comes to the labor costs, you’ll find some materials are far cheaper to install than others, and there’s also a difference between flat or low-slope roofs and the cost required for setting up a high-slope installation. All these details have to be taken into account. Typically, however, your best chance at getting an accurate estimate is to contact your local roofers at (301) 417-1000 and ask for a quote.
