I’m proud to share a little bit about who we are and where we come from. American Custom Contractors was started back in 1972 by our parents, Alex and Angie Giakoumatos. At the time, they were living in Gaithersburg, Montgomery County, raising a small family and chasing the dream of building something meaningful. What began as a modest carpentry business slowly grew into a full-service remodeling company, fueled by their hard work, commitment to quality, and genuine care for the people they served.
Alongside the business, our family also grew. Our parents raised four children, and all of us have, in one way or another, stayed connected to this community that gave us so much. In 1997, my brother Demetri and I, officially joined the family business. Stepping into the company felt natural—it was less about taking over and more about carrying forward a legacy that was already deeply rooted in service and craftsmanship. With fresh energy and a shared vision, we worked to expand our reach and offerings, and it was during this time that our Commercial Services division was born.
As the company continued to grow, so did the need for a central hub where we could manage projects more efficiently and connect with customers more easily. In 2005, we moved into our current location at 15728 Crabbs Branch Way in Rockville. This move wasn’t just about convenience—it was about positioning ourselves where we could best serve our clients, respond quickly to estimates, and stay connected to the neighborhoods we’ve always valued.

When my parents, Alex and Angie, first started American Custom Contractors, they built the business on a foundation of honesty, integrity, and a simple promise—to get the job done right the first time. Those values weren’t just words to them; they were the guiding principles behind every project, big or small.
Now, more than 50 years later, I’m proud to say we still live by that same mission. Our work has expanded far beyond its early beginnings, and today we serve homeowners, businesses, and insurance restoration projects across Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Washington, DC. Even as the industry has evolved, our commitment to craftsmanship and integrity has never wavered.
