Installing a Synthetic Slate Roof

Maryland Slate Roofing ContractorsSynthetic Slate is the perfect option for homeowners who want the look of natural slate without incurring the cost that it typically requires.  The best products will replicate the look of natural slate tiles with rough edges and a stone-like texture.  There are many benefits to using newly developed synthetic slate technologies, including:

  • Worry-free and low-maintenance roof product
  • Dramatic savings as compared to natural slate
  • Faster installation & less waste
  • Lighterweight product
  • 50-year warranty on most products
  • Wide range of color options to complement your home

Why does Synthetic Slate cost less than Natural Slate, and do I have to sacrifice quality for price?

There are a few reasons that Synthetic Slate costs less than Natural Slate, but homeowners do not need to sacrifice quality of product for a better price!  Synthetic slate tiles weigh significantly less (typically a quarter of the weight of natural slate) which makes this product easier to both transport and install - which can add up to savings for the homeowner.  Also, because of the lighter weight, most standard roofs can support a synthetic slate roof, which means that little to no work must be done to alter the structure of your home.

What color options are there?

In addition to a variety of manufacturer options, there are a variety of color options as well.  Most homeowners choose to install a Slate Gray color, but there is a wide range available.  You also have the option of installing a pattern, combining multiple colored tiles (see below).
