July Storm Causes Major Damage to Homeowner’s Roof
In July 2010 there was a severe rain and wind storm that swept through the suburbs of Washington DC. In addition to flooded streets and power outages, there were many downed trees. In some cases these tress fell on homes, causing significant damage to roofs and framing. One family in Rockville had a tree fall on the rear elevation of their home. The tree caused damage to the shingles, soffit, gutters and the actual structural framing of the home.
In addition to the tree damaging the roof, limbs and branches fell across the rear deck, damaging the surface of the deck and the railings.
The tree limbs also punctured through the roof, attic and kitchen ceiling.
The homeowners contacted American Custom Contractors to represent them in the insurance claims process. Our Project Consultant and Project Manager made site visits to determine the extent of the damage, both interior and exterior, and to create a scope of work to present to the insurance company. Over the course of a few weeks the insurance company and our company representatives came to an agreement about the scope of work required to restore the home to its pre-existing condition. This involved replacement of some sections of roofing, soffit repairs, truss replacement, interior drywall and paint and deck repairs.
