A homeowner in Silver Spring had some concerns about his roof. A leak had started in their bedroom and it drew concern for the condition of the rest of the roof. They were the second owners of the home, and were not sure of the exact age of the roof. It was at least 14 years old at the time of inspection, because that is how long the current owners had been living there. The inspection showed weathering and damage to the natural cedar shake roof. Several shakes were missing, exposing the roofing felt below, and the shakes were starting to crack and warp.

The homeowners knew that they wanted to replace the roof with an asphalt or architectural shingle, instead of the cedar shake. Architectural shingles are usually more affordable than natural cedar shake, and we were able to offer the homeowners three options within their budget range. They opted to replace with a GAF Timberline Prestique Lifetime shingle.
