Project Spotlight
After a winter with heavy snow and ice storms, American Custom Contractors was contacted by a homeowner in Chevy Chase who was concerned about his natural slate roof. While natural slate roofing has much more longevity than more common asphalt roofs, older slate roofing is highly susceptible to damage from ice and snow. The weight of the ice and snow caused slates to dislodge, which also caused some damage to the gutters and downspouts and snow guards.
American Custom Contractors performed an inspection of the property and provided a report and estimate that encompassed all of the damages found. In this case the homeowner used their homeowner’s insurance policy to submit a claim. The Project Consultant worked directly with the adjuster to complete the settlement and upon approval American Custom Contractors proceeded with the project.

The roof replacement for this Chevy Chase residence required some special safety precautions due to the steepness of the roof and landscaping protection for the property grounds. The natural slate roof is beautifully complemented by the copper flashings on the home. American Custom Contractors also installed copper snow guards and a full copper gutters and downspout system.
