For many homeowners the maintenance involved with the wood siding on their home can be a painful, time-consuming ordeal. Over time natural elements can impact the longevity of a wood siding system and diminish the aesthetic appeal a home once had. There are now several products available that do not require homeowners to sacrifice the curb appeal of their home, yet limit or eliminate the maintenance that must be invested.
James Hardie is a leader in fiber cement siding and backerboard. These products are available in a variety of panel sizes, exposures, colors and patterns. All James Hardie products are backed by a 50-year warranty and are designed to resist cracking, rotting, hail damage, termites and other commonly experienced problems that are found with traditional, natural wood siding. American Custom Contractors also offers the option of Color-Plus or custom painted fiber cement siding, which allows the homeowner to further customize the appearance of their home.
Nichiha is another option for homeowners looking to replicate the look of wood siding. In addition to cedar shake siding alternatives, Nichiha also manufactures faux brick and stone wall systems. Using a patented clip-installation system for the brick and stone, this product allows air to transfer between the siding panels and substrate, thereby reducing the moisture build-up and enhancing the integrity of the substrate. This product also comes with a 50-year warranty and will not crack, split, delaminate, rot and is resistant to fungus and termite infestation.
