Established in 1985, Tarara Winery is located in Leesburg, VA on a 475 acre piece of farmland. The owners of Tarara Winery, Whitie & Margaret Smith, had a vision to combine their great loves – nature, music, art, architecture and fine wine. The vineyard plays host to summer concerts, U-Pick fruits, and their tasting room where visitors can sample their elegantly crafted wines.
In 2008 a Tarara representative made contact with American Custom Contractors at the 2008 Green Apple Festival in Washington DC. The winery had expressed interest in replacing the roof system on one of their main buildings with a synthetic cedar roof system. Synthetic cedar carries many benefits, including no maintenance requirements after installation, mold resistant, hail resistant and it is made with 95% reclaimed materials, making it environmentally friendly. Since the owners of Tarara Winery needed a roof system that would eliminate future maintenance and still retain the beautiful look of natural cedar, they decided to replace with the Enviroshake Synthetic Shake roof system.
Upon completion of the existing cedar shake roof system, American Custom Contractors also replaced a number of custom skylights on another of the main buildings on the Tarara Winery property. The entire project was completed with products that allowed the owners of the winery to adhere to their vision of creating and maintaining a place that merges beautiful architecture and an environmentally friendly lifestyle.
